Last November, the House of Representatives voted in overwhelming favor, 396-9, to reaffirm “In God We Trust” as the official motto of the United States. Congressman Randy Forbes of Virginia, who introduced the legislation, emphasized that “once again we make it clear to the people in this country that our national motto is “In God We Trust” and encourage them to proudly display that motto.”
“As our nation faces challenging times, it is appropriate for Members of Congress and our nation—like our predecessors—to firmly declare our trust in God, believing that it will sustain us for generations to come,” stated Forbes. Their action now calls our nation to continue acknowledging God as the source of human dignity and worth, and for the public display of the national motto in all public buildings, public schools, and other government institutions.
